Lead with a clear, well-lit face shot. Sunglasses are fine in photo 3 or 4 once she already knows what you look like.
Why she skips
She's not playing Where's Waldo. If she has to work out which one you are, she skips.
The fix
Solo photo first. Group shots work well in slots 3–5 as social proof — after she already knows your face.
Why she skips
A set of near-identical selfies says you don't do anything interesting enough to photograph. It also makes the profile feel low-effort.

Aim for range: clear face shot, full-body context, one social or candid moment, one hobby or travel shot. Variety signals a life worth joining.

She will notice the mismatch. It signals you're not comfortable with who you are now — or that you're actively trying to mislead.
The fix
Use photos from the last 12–18 months max. If your best photo is older, that's a cue to shoot new ones, not a reason to keep the old one.

A profile full of serious, posed shots reads as high-maintenance or cold. She's imagining being around you — and serious-only is exhausting.

One natural, caught-off-guard smile does more work than five curated poses. It signals warmth and ease.

Why she skips
"I love travel, good food, the gym, and my dog" describes half the men on Hinge. It gives her nothing to respond to.
The fix
Replace the list with one specific detail. 'I can tell you exactly which taco truck in Valencia is worth the queue' says more than 'I love travel.'
Why she skips
If every answer is the same tone — all deadpan, all try-hard witty, all overly earnest — you have no range. She wants to know there's more than one note.
The fix
Let one prompt be light, one be genuine, one show taste or ambition. Contrast makes a profile feel like a real person.
Why she skips
Short answers aren't confident minimalism if they're also dead ends. 'I make great pasta' is fine on its own but invites nothing.
The fix
Give her the hook and one detail she can pull on: 'I make great pasta — and I've been known to show up with a full dinner for the wrong reasons.'
Why she skips
"Not looking for hookups," "no drama," "if you can't handle..." — any version of this sounds like someone already planning the breakup before the first date.
The fix
Delete every sentence that starts with what you don't want. Your standards show through what you do say — not through preemptive warnings.

Why she skips
Her prompts exist for a reason. Ignoring them to comment on her appearance signals you didn't read her profile and that you're calibrated to her photo, not her.
The fix
Reference one specific detail from a prompt. Even a simple 'okay the Valencia taco truck claim — justify this' is 10× better than 'you're so pretty.'

It puts 100% of the conversational work on her. She gets dozens of these. "Hey" is invisible.

One line, one question, referenced to her profile. You don't need a perfect opener — you need a specific one.

"What are you looking for on here?" as a first message makes her write a paragraph before she even knows if she likes talking to you.

Ask something easy and specific. Build to the deeper questions after she's comfortable. Low-friction first move, real conversation second.
